Cookie Policy
This page says what this site stores on your device, and how to change it. Last updated 7 September 2026.
The short version
A cookie is a small file a website puts on your device so it can recognise the same browser again.
We set nothing until you agree. When you first arrive, a box appears at the bottom of the screen. Nothing is stored while it is waiting for your answer. If you press Reject, nothing is stored at all.
What we use, and why
One thing only: Google Analytics. It counts how many people read the guides and which guides they read. We use that to decide what to write next.
It is delivered by Google Tag Manager, container GTM-KFJQCZM2. The Analytics property is G-08JLMMT7XW.
| Cookie | Set by | What it does | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google Analytics | Tells one browser apart from another, so two visits by the same person are not counted as two people | 2 years |
| _ga_08JLMMT7XW | Google Analytics | Keeps track of one visit from start to finish | 2 years |
Google Analytics records the page you looked at, the site you came from, your device type, and a rough location worked out from your internet address. It does not record your name, your email address, or anything you have typed.
Your answer to the cookie box is kept on your own device in your browser storage, under the name ra-consent. It is not a cookie and it is never sent to us.
What we do not use
- No advertising cookies. We show no adverts.
- No social media tracking.
- No cookies that follow you to other websites.
Amazon links
Many guides link to products on Amazon. We earn a commission if you buy. Those links set nothing on this site. When you arrive at Amazon, Amazon sets its own cookies under its own rules, and we have no control over that. See the affiliate disclaimer.
Change your mind
You can change your answer at any time, as easily as you gave it.
When you withdraw consent we delete the Google Analytics cookies from your device straight away.
Turning cookies off in your browser
Every browser lets you block or delete cookies for all websites. Look in Settings, then Privacy. Blocking cookies everywhere may stop other websites from working properly. It will not break this one.
