Privacy
This page says what happens to information about you when you use this site. Last updated 7 September 2026.
The short version
We do not ask you for anything. There are no accounts and no log-in.
One thing measures visits: Google Analytics. It does not run until you agree, and you can refuse or change your mind at any time.
Who is responsible
The Rough Acre runs this site and decides what happens to the information described here. Reach us through the contact page.
What we collect, and when
If you press Reject on the cookie bar, or ignore it
Nothing. No cookie is set. Google Analytics never loads.
If you press Accept
Google Analytics records the page you looked at, the site you came from, your device and browser type, and a rough location worked out from your internet address. It sets two cookies that last two years.
It does not record your name or your email address. We never see one visitor as a named person.
Google is a separate company and handles that data under its own privacy policy. The cookie policy lists the exact cookies.
Every visit, whatever you choose
Cloudflare delivers this site. Like every web host, its servers briefly record the internet address that asked for each page, so it can block attacks and keep the site up. We do not use those records to identify anybody.
The email box
There is a box on the site asking for an email address for new guides. It is not connected to anything yet. Nothing you type into it is sent, stored or read. When we do open a mailing list, this page will say so first.
Links to Amazon and other sites
Many guides link to products on Amazon. We earn a commission if you buy. Once you click through, you are on Amazon and their rules apply, not ours. See the affiliate disclaimer.
The local food directory links to businesses' own websites and Facebook pages. Those are other people's sites, with their own rules.
Your rights
If you live in the United Kingdom or the European Union you may ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it or delete it, and object to how we use it. In practice we hold almost nothing, because we collect almost nothing.
You can withdraw your agreement to analytics at any time on the cookie policy page. Withdrawing deletes the Google cookies from your device straight away.
If you think we have handled your information badly, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Children
This site is written for adults. We do not knowingly collect anything about children.
